Looking for an at home gym solution IN CANADA coop3422
Hey all,

I was considering a Bowflex, but after some reading yesterday, seems there are better options. But every review and comparison is typically out of the US, and not all the stuff ships to Canada, or it's insanely expensive. There are border delivery services so I could possibly have something shipped to the US address border, but it does add cost so would have to be a really good deal. Options available in Canada would be easier.

I'm 5'9", 195lbs. Brief history, 10 years ago I was ~205 and sawft. Moved out west, got addicted to the elliptical in my rental place, and cleaned up my eating. Over 2 years I lost 60 lbs, best I ever felt at 146. Oh how I wish a began real lifting at that point. Years and relationships later, creep back up to 180. Lifted weights for 1.5-2 years with an old colleague who used to do shows and was pretty jacked. It was the strongest I'd ever been, I fest better as skinny fat at 146, but still felt solid at 180. I no longer work with him, stopped lifting, and at a meh 195.

On my frame, I think 155-160 lbs and lean with some muscle would be my end goal. Flat stomach. I've gotta get me eating under control, and we have a Precor elliptical that we bought at the start of covid, so now I need a strength training solution for our basement. Our basement development starts next week and should take 8-9 weeks, then I'll be buying something (I can wait till BF if it'll make a big difference).

I tore my rotator cuff snowboarding years ago, so it limits what I can bench, and why I feel much better with a spotter, which I won't have. That's why I was initially leaning towards a bowflex. I know there's smith machines, but robs you of stabilizers. Then there's the hooks you can put on a cage to catch the bar if you can't fully extend, but I've never used them before.

So with all that, I think some sort of cage solution might be the answer. I like the idea of it having a couple wait stacks, as we did use them a fair bit when I was lifting with my friend. The Lifefitness G7, or something of that idea.

Budget: Would be nice to keep it $4k CAD or under. I'd like to do it right the first time, but also be reasonable since we dropped $4,400 on the Precor last spring.

Thanks everyone, sorry for the wall of text.
