Can I substitute real meat instead of whey powder before and after workouts? mileena202
My freezer is absolutely full of chicken and turkey breast and (non-breaded) fish fillets, so I need to start using them up. I aim for 160 g of complete proteins per day, which is my lean mass in pounds.
Right now I take:
on waking up:
13 g protein from whey protein isolate [since the body is starved of protein]
plus some almond butter, a slice of Ezekiel bread, and 2 g lean meat
pre-workout a few hours later:
13 g protein from whey protein isolate
12.5 g protein from casein protein powder
mid workout:
13 g protein from whey protein isolate
some unsalted peanuts
post workout:
13 g protein from whey protein isolate
12.5 g protein from casein protein powder
dinner:
5-6 g lean meat
4 large eggs
bedtime:
25 g casein protein powder
plus some almond butter and a slice of Ezerkiel bread
Question: can I substitute real meat for some of the whey (and maybe casein powder) before, during, and after workouts? I take whey because it is quick digesting (right?). So is this an advantage instead of real meat for workouts?
I also mix casein and whey together pre- and post workout since it is recommended by Canadian body builder Jeff Nippard of YouTube fame, based on his medical journal research.
