I will be getting a pacemaker, brief question about my lifestyle. Please help! fitnesslover777
I’m in my mid 20’s, the reason for the pacemaker is for an AV block that is not severe and doesn’t produce me any symptoms but it still needs a pacemaker as concluded by my specialist, other than that I’m very healthy. I began searching online about having a pacemaker and weightlifting just to find lots of mixed information. When I got on this site I found encouraging information, some people with a pacemaker not being affected by their fitness lifestyle. I’m just anxious and very paranoid.
A year ago when I learned that I would need a pacemaker in the near future (which is now,) for my chest, I switched to light weights and no no bench press, also no pull ups for my back. All I work is my arms, back and legs.
**Close grip db press:120 lbs, overhead db extension:100 lbs, barbell bicep curls:100lbs, db hammer curls:80lbs, db bent over rows:120 lbs, barbell rows:230 lbs, one arm barbell row:200 lbs.**
So as you can see, I don’t lift very heavy and I’m okay like that, because I’m prone to wrist injuries and I have made excellent gains with my current program which I have build up to.
My question is, should I be okay to continue with my fitness lifestyle after a pacemaker implantation (once I have healed of course,) as long as I’m careful? My concern is breaking a lead. Of course this is a question that I’m going to ask the surgeon but I would really like to hear from people on here with their experience, I would really appreciate it!!
